We don’t have to tell you that the standardized testing regimen in Florida is a mess. The state’s multibillion dollar toxic testing system has provided little academic benefit to most public school students, parents, teachers, ESPs and school administrators.

A lawsuit filed Friday, December 5th, by teachers in Florida’s 11th Circuit Court says that Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez is violating the education requirements of the Florida state constitution and shortchanging public schools by failing to properly fund and staff the county tax appeal process.

Teachers, paraprofessionals, clericals and security monitors represented by United Teachers of Dade (UTD) have approved a new contract by a margin of 79% (11,232 YES votes) to 21% (2988 NO votes). Results are official and have been certified by the UTD Internal Functions Committee
