Statement from UTD President on flawed FCAT results 

Based on last year’s glitch found in the 3^rd grade FCAT scores, how can the State continue to rely upon this single flawed instrument to judge our students and our teachers?  

Now, under the MAP legislation, teachers are supposed to receive bonus money based on results largely derived from students’ FCAT scores.  Instead of real increases in salaries for our teachers, money is diverted to bonus payments based on unreliable data.   

No wonder teachers are looking elsewhere to continue their careers.
