National union leader visits Miami to observe school's progress
On Wednesday, January 18th the American Federation of Teachers national President Randi Weingarten visited Holmes Elementary to observe the hard work being done to help students succeed. President Weingarten was joined by UTD President Karen Aronowitz and Secretary-Treasurer Fedrick Ingram at Holmes elementary for a tour of the school and some classroom teaching observations. The three leaders then met with community leaders near Miami Central Senior High School to discuss:
- Our community public schools
- The current legislative session
- The 2012 elections
- Public education from a national perspective
- How teachers unions can partner with our community to bring quality education to all students.
