REP. BULLARD RAISES CONCERNS OVER PROPOSED EDUCATION BUDGET
Representative Dwight M. Bullard, the Democratic Ranking Member on the Florida House Education Committee, raised major concerns with the proposed 2011-12 education budget.
“Our budget in 2008-2009 was $900 million less than our projected budget for 2011-12. We are also spending $1 billion less on per-student funding this year than we did in 2008 and 2009. This proposal is not student-centered—nor does it meet our constitutional obligation to provide a high quality public education for the next generation of Floridians,” said Representative Bullard.
In an effort to address these concerns, Rep. Bullard proposed an amendment that would maintain per-student spending at its current level. The amendment failed in a partisan vote on the House floor. Click here for Media Release
